Historical update: NEO Shikoku 88 was a summer 2025 community event inspired by Shikoku’s famous 88-temple pilgrimage. The original article was written while the event was running; it is now preserved as an archive rather than a current event guide.
What was NEO Shikoku 88?
The project reinterpreted the idea of travelling around Shikoku through a collection of local experiences across Tokushima, Kochi, Ehime and Kagawa. The 2025 programme ran from July through August.
Was it a Cardano DeFi project?
No. The old article leaned too heavily on “DAO” and “DeFi pilgrimage” language. Its core story was a real-world Japanese community and tourism experiment with Web3-style coordination, not a financial protocol.
Why keep this article?
It captures one example of how blockchain communities experimented with connecting digital participation to physical events. Dates, tickets and activities from 2025 should not be treated as current.
