Updated September 2026: Vector is no longer a speculative “Cardano DeFi chain.” The Apex Fusion eUTXO Layer 2 has been live on mainnet since August 2025 and has since expanded into production DeFi and AI-agent infrastructure.
What Is Vector?
Vector is the eUTXO application layer of the Apex Fusion ecosystem. It is derived from Cardano technology, uses Ouroboros consensus and supports Cardano-style tooling and Plutus smart contracts. It is a separate network—not Cardano mainnet itself.
Why Is It Relevant to Cardano?
Vector deliberately preserves the eUTXO model familiar to Cardano developers while tuning network parameters for faster blocks, finality and low-cost execution. Apex Fusion positions it as an expansion environment for Cardano-aligned applications rather than a replacement for Cardano.
Is Vector Live?
Yes. Vector mainnet has been live since August 2025. Current Apex Fusion documentation includes mainnet node operation and developer tooling, and production applications have begun deploying on the network.
What About DeFi?
VyFinance has deployed on Vector, providing a concrete production DeFi example. Apex Fusion is also working with cross-chain infrastructure to connect its ecosystem to external liquidity. These integrations should be evaluated individually rather than treating “multi-chain liquidity” as automatic security or adoption.
AI Agents: A New Direction
By 2026 Apex Fusion was also positioning Vector as infrastructure for verifiable AI-agent activity. Its public developer work includes agent identity, escrow and signed-receipt concepts plus an MCP interface. This is an evolving use case, not proof that AI-agent adoption is already widespread.
How Fast Is Vector?
A 2025 technical report commissioned by the Apex Fusion Foundation and produced by Predictable Network Solutions with Well-Typed analyzed Vector’s finality model. Performance claims depend on the report’s network assumptions and should not be simplified into “instant finality under all conditions.”
