Updated September 2026: This article originally suggested ZEIT delegators would “most likely” receive double rewards. That was too strong. Midnight mainnet is live, but permissionless block production and NIGHT block rewards are not live yet.
What Is Confirmed?
Midnight’s published tokenomics plans NIGHT rewards for future block producers from a protocol-managed reserve and describes a role for Cardano Stake Pool Operators. Midnight has also tested SPO-based block production on its public testnet.
What Is Not Confirmed?
There is currently no automatic mechanism where delegating ADA to ZEIT—or another Cardano pool—causes NIGHT or DUST to appear in a delegator’s wallet. Current federated Midnight block producers receive no block rewards.
ZEIT’s Position
ZEIT intends to participate in permissionless Midnight block production when it becomes available. If the final mechanics make additional NIGHT incentives shareable with Cardano delegators, we intend to use that opportunity for ZEIT delegators. Until those mechanics are live, this is a plan rather than a reward promise.

ADA, NIGHT and DUST Are Different
ADA delegation earns Cardano staking rewards. NIGHT is Midnight’s native token. DUST is generated from registered NIGHT and pays Midnight transaction fees. ADA delegation does not itself generate DUST.
